Shores and Islands Wine Trail Tours

Our Shores and Islands Wine Trail Tour is quickly becoming our most popular tour, showcasing some of the most scenic and interesting year-round destinations along Lake Erie’s southern shores! Did you know that grapes have been grown here for wine since the 1800s and there are more than 20 wineries located in our region today?

Come along with Firelands Adventure Tours for a casual, relaxing afternoon of wine tasting. Your wine journey will begin and end at Sawmill Creek in Huron, Ohio, where we pick you up in our climate-controlled bus and take you safely and comfortably to three wineries on the Shores & Islands Wine Trail. Each of these wineries provides a unique atmosphere and array of wines and other locally-made beverages and treats.

You’ll spend about an hour at each winery, where you get the opportunity to take in the winery experience on your own: purchase wine tastings and food, stroll the grounds, relax and enjoy entertainment, purchase wines and other items to take home and more. Create your own experience at each winery, enjoying the sites, sounds and tastes of each unique location.

We visited three wineries and had ample time at each to relax and enjoy the tasting menu. Our tour group included two other couples from the area and a group of women who had met through their children’s high school activities and were getting away from them for the day to get to know each other better. By the end of the day, we had all gotten to know each other better, while still enjoying private time with our respective groups. Our tour guide was informative and jovial and each winery provided some yummy nosh (and one charcuterie board in particular that has inspired me to up my game at home!). We’ve already suggested this adventure to our friends’ adult children as a great second-date surprise, and we’ll be back soon with some good friends in tow!

WE TEMPERED THIS BY BONDING WITH OTHERS ON THE TOUR AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A TERRIFIC SALE ON THE WINERY'S TASTY SANGRIA.

The information received exceeded what we would have experienced if we had driven ourselves to the 4 lighthouses.  Written information was even provided  ! Excellent background information was given on the drive there. The docent, Adele Dahlin gave good information on the art seen in a brief survey of diverse galleries.
